Dear Colleagues and Co-Investigators,
We bring you this time a special edition of EPBM, Early Pregnancy: Biology and Medicine. It reflects SIEP enhanced presence both within the world of Early Pregnancy Investigation per se and in connection with other fields of medicine throughout.
Within this spirit, during year 2000 SIEP held two major conferences:
First in Hungary together with the Hungarian Ob/Gyn Society and Istvan Szabo, its President, we held the: Fourth World Conference on Early Pregnancy :Continuum Between Implantation And Perinatal Events. At the conference, SIEP and the European Perinatal Society forged a sistership which will be continued and reflected in the upcoming conferences in year 2001.

In October of 2000 SIEP co-hosted together with IFPA, The International Federation of Placenta Associations under the presidency of Dr. Richard K. Miller: The Placenta Conference Function and Pathobiology in the New Millennium: Implications for Research, Therapy and Practice, Rochester, New York. Basically at the Placenta Conference SIEP and myself represented the Embryo. Again a sistership between the two societies was forged and we hope it will grow.
Please find enclosed in this issue the abstracts of the invited presentations to include Drs.: R. A. Foulk, G. Genbacev, E. R. Barnea, A. Blaschitz, H. Hutter, G. Dohr, G. Burton, M. Zygmunt, and L. Adamson. These presentations represent the workshop which allowed for the forging of the sistership entitled From Embryo to Fetus and from Trophoblast to Placenta.
Now turning to the future. During 2001 SIEP will participate, organize, endorse and co-host four additional meetings. We hope to see you there. They are:
